Core Features
Unpixelate.ai runs on generative super-resolution diffusion models, not basic stretching algorithms. The tool does not interpolate existing pixels, it redraws the full image with plausible, high-resolution texture learned from hundreds of millions of reference photographs.
All uploaded images are processed in memory and automatically deleted, no user uploads are used for model training. The tool requires no prompts or manual settings adjustment, users only need to upload their file and select a quality tier.
It supports JPG, PNG and WebP uploads up to 10MB, and also accepts direct pasting from the system clipboard. All output downloads carry no watermark.
Two Quality Tiers
Standard: Free for all users, delivers results in around 10 seconds, ideal for AI art upscaling, game capture sharpening, and fixing compressed re-saved photos. It can upscale a 256×256 image to 1024×1024 resolution.
HD: Requires credits, uses a dedicated specialized facial detail model that reconstructs skin texture, hair strands, and fine facial features. It works best for low-resolution profile avatars and old scanned family photos, converting a 144×144 avatar to a 1024×1024 clean high-res version.
Supported Use Cases
Low-resolution profile avatars and social media thumbnails, upscaled to print-ready resolution
Tiny old scanned prints and photos of physical documents, to recover hidden face and surface detail
Cropped screenshots and pixelated images from chat apps, to make text and content readable again
Game captures and pixel art screenshots, upscaled to clean resolutions suitable for wallpapers and live streams
Repeatedly saved compressed JPEGs, to remove blockiness and restore lost fine detail
Small AI-generated images, to expand resolution for print or larger display uses
Honest Capability Limits
Pixelation permanently destroys original image information, so no tool can recover exact lost data. Unpixelate.ai generates statistically plausible texture that matches the remaining pixelated input. It cannot restore heavily pixelated text, redacted content, or license plates to their exact original state, and does not attempt to produce fake accurate results for those use cases. It can reduce mild motion blur and focus softness, but is not built to fix extreme unaligned blur.
