Core Creative Capabilities
Qwen Image 2.1 supports three distinct creation modes in the same interface:
Text to image: Generate a new image from a written description that includes subject, composition, lighting, and visual style details
Reference-guided generation: Upload up to 10 reference images to define the object appearance, aesthetic direction, or layout you want the output to match
Image refinement: Upload an existing image, specify the elements you want to keep, and describe only the changes you want to apply, for targeted edits without full redraws
Supported Output Specifications
All generated and edited images can be exported at 1K or 2K resolution. The platform supports three output file formats:
PNG: Full resolution with optional transparent background
WebP: Smaller file size with support for transparent backgrounds
JPEG: Standard lossy format for general use that does not support alpha channels
The platform accepts prompts up to 5000 characters long, so users can include full context, style guidelines, text to render in the image, and detailed constraints for more predictable results.
Common Use Cases
Users can apply Qwen Image 2.1 for a range of creative projects:
Product imagery: Generate studio-style product photos, custom scene setups, and clean isolated product assets
Posters and layouts: Define exact layout rules and include specified text content directly in the prompt, to generate draft poster designs without separate layout tools
Creative concepts: Rapidly iterate on editorial illustrations, moodboard visuals, and early creative direction tests
Design assets: Export elements with transparent backgrounds for direct use in other design workflows
Step-by-Step Workflow
Every generation follows 6 simple steps:
Select your base workflow: start from a blank text prompt, or select the image editing mode
Upload any reference images you want to use to guide the visual output
Write a clear prompt that explains your subject, scene, style requirements, or specific edit instructions
Adjust output settings: choose your aspect ratio, target resolution, and desired file format
Generate the image and review the full composition and fine details
Download the final file, or revise your prompt and generate new variations if you need adjustments
Usage and Billing
Generations use account credits. The exact credit cost for each generation is displayed inside the generator interface before you submit your request. Full details of available credit plans are listed on the public pricing page, and no hidden fees are applied to completed generations.
To get more accurate results: explicitly state what parts of an existing image must remain unchanged when submitting an edit request, and explain the exact role of each uploaded reference image inside your prompt.
